Engine 3 (also, Reserve Engine 15 and 23) is a 1947 American LaFrance 700 Series Engine.  It spent its entire service life with the Marion Fire Department in Marion, Ohio, until it was retired in 1977.  It has been privately owned by Bruce Neal of Hope, Indiana, since that time.  It features its original 492 Cubic Inch Auburn-Lycoming Model "G" V-12 Gasoline Engine, a 4-speed Manual Transmission, a 750 G.P.M. Pump, and a 160-gallon Water Tank.  Apart from the addition of the Bell and Roto-Ray, all of the equipment on the truck is as it was when it rolled out of the American LaFrance factory in Elmira, New York, in 1947.  It carries American LaFrance Registered No. L-3171.
